We all hate the mess in our cases. The cables all over the place can ruin a mod completely. The answer to this has always been sleeving your cables. The only problem there is that there is no definitive guide supplied with sleeving we buy, so most people just aren't sure how to sleeve their cables. For that simple reason, i have compiled this guide. This guide will teach you how to sleeve your cables perfectly. My method is most certainly not the quickest, so if you want to sleeve your cables quickly, you can stop reading now. My method will, however, help you sleeve your cables to perfection. Here's what you'll need:
With regards to the sleeving - I've used a Vantec kit for this guide. I'm sure you can get these kits for about R80 (ZAR) though, so this little mod won't cost you a lot. I absolutely hate the Vantec Kits, because the sleeving and Heatshrink you get with the kits is in the most absurd sizes. There's no way you can do a proper sleeving job on all your cables (this includes the 24 ATX cable) with the supplied heatshrink. You WILL need to stop at your local electronics store and get some heatshrink for this mod. Don't worry though, heatshrink is dirt cheap. As a result of this, i generally import all the sleeving i use. One of my sponsors, Performance-PCs, have a MASSIVE range of sleeving and heatshrink, and you can buy in specific sizes, as well as per foot, so you can order as much as you need of each and every size, which is really great. Performance-PCs also has just about every single colour you could want, and if they don't have your colour on the site, email them and ask them if they can source it for you. I did this for the clear Techflex i used in Epiphany. I suggest you have a look at Performance-PCs if you wish to import your sleeving. Anyway, now that that's out of the way, let's get to modding! |
