Hey man your stuff is SICK!And I was just wandering if you could give me some advice. I'am painting a logitech mouse how do you think i should do it??
By Unknown on Aug 01 2007 at 9:49 PM
dude i have a question...u used mobo covers coz the hosing was conductive and dangerous to the components...but then u chromed the mobo shields and stuff...
isnt chroming plastic (or anythin) making it conductive coz there is traces of metal in the chroming?
By DAE_JA_VOO on Aug 02 2007 at 8:46 AM
@ Logitach: Drop me an email and we can chat ;)

@ Unknown (lol?): Yes, you're right. Chroming the motherboard covers DID make them electrically conductive, but i built the mod so that the covers never touch the motherboard or any other hardware ;)

By the way, it's not that there are "traces" of metal in chroming, chrome IS metal ;)

LED Optical Drive Mod By Unknown on Aug 03 2007 at 8:03 PM
Splendid work indeed. I believe a little more detail on connecting the LED's in series would be very helpful.
Please be kind enough to e-mail me info on connecting the LED's in series.

Epiphany and optical drive modding By Unknown on Aug 20 2007 at 9:57 PM
incredible mods! i saw your article on UK's Custom PC magazine (October edition) and was so impressed with your opti-drive LED mod that i've been inspired to make my own with one difference; have the (possibly 4 or 5) LEDs around the back and sides instead of just at the back
Thanks guys! By DAE_JA_VOO on Aug 21 2007 at 10:35 AM
Thanks to you all for your compliments!

To the guy who commented last, thanks a lot man :) Just remember that my guide will only work with 3 LEDs, in series, if you want to put in 4 or 5, you're probably going to have to chuck them in parallel each with it's own resistor. That'll consume a lot of space inside the drive, you might not be able to fit it all in there.

If you get it right, let me know!

Regarding the site, it is good, pretty clear and concise, sort of thing I would expect. It is easy to navigate and the colours are pleasant.
Why, in the comment section does it say "unknown", does the site require registration?

Seriously can not believe that is what all the fuss was bout, really really disappointed.

Thanks to everyone for all your comments, i really appreciate it guys!

To the guy above this post: Who said i do this for my dad? I certainly didn't say that. Also remember that i have sponsors, so i'm not even using my own money. I get sent whatever i need for my projects. I don't pay a cent.

Have a nice day.

Just a kind spell checking thing... :P By Unknown on Nov 12 2007 at 11:18 PM
Hey.. well on your 22inch screen thingy I see you made a mistake with the tense :P Big deal I know, but I assume you want this to be a proffessional site..?I'll correct it here :P

I have always wanted a big LCD screen, always, and I have never had a screen any bigger than a 17". Then one day a BenQ FP222W 22" Widescreen LCD crossed my path and I had to buy it, I just had to. When I first got it, it felt like I just had too much desktop space. About a week later I felt like I didn't have ENOUGH desktop space. I wanted another one...

Then I started thinking about how cool it would be if I could mod two of them into one massive set. That plan - along with my birthday that was coming up - was good enough reason for me to get another one. So, a few days after my birthday I went and bought myself a nice birthday present, another 22" LCD.

Use it, don't use it :P Just thought I'd let you know there were mistakes, there are propably mistakes elsewhere too... No offense meant seriously just thought I'd show you some tense errors :P

Kind Regards
Meh!

Thanks! By DAE_JA_VOO on Nov 14 2007 at 12:00 AM
Thanks for the Tip "Meh!" but there's nothing grammatically wrong with the way i have it posted up on my site. Ironically, there's actually an error in YOUR fix ;)

You say "I have always wanted....". Well, there's no point in me saying that because i've been running on LCDs for a few years now, which is why i said "had" ;)

Thanks anyway though ;)

And thanks Bhanie, thanks mate!

howzit, great work!!!

I read ur section in PCF every month, I live in zimbabwe, and i come down to jhb once or twice a year (usually for a couple days) so i usually dont have time to look around for things. I was wondering if you could maybe tell me how much a 450mm X 610mm piece of 3mm plexi would cost? and where do u find those awesome switches u used on ur Epiphany project.

anyway, thx in advance. and seriously, awesome work man!

LCD's By Unknown on Dec 02 2007 at 11:20 AM
This is great man, really nice work. I am going to get myself the exact same 22" screens also want/need/got-to-have 2 of them ;)

I want to mod mine to be closer together, like one massive screen, like your design. The only thing is the warranty will be void and like you mentioned they aren't cheap and secondly I may want to use only one of them at some times so the "fitting" will have to be able to separate :(. This is going to be tricky, have to work on some designs, all the best with your project and future endeavors, keeps us updated on the progress of the 22" mod!

PS, When I get them I am going to have a spare 17" LCD(after warranty period) lying around, I have always wanted to build myself a projector saw a DIY projector from a lcd looks real promising! http://www.metacafe.com/watch/476675/do_it_yourself_lcd_projector/

Hi Ettienne

Must say great work dude!!! The concept picture of project Endorphin looks cool, cant wait till you done… How’s has the Endorphin been working out so far? I’ve started to build up a rig late last year. I’m only 14 now and I must you really inspired me to get modding. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not.lol. Busy working on my case [Aerocool AeroEngine2] now, and at the moment, it’s not looking like an Epiphany :( but I’m sure it will come around. How would I go about cutting a new perspecs / plexi side window? (Not sure what the difference between plexi and perspecs is) Coz I don’t have the tools to do it at home.Is there any places in cape town where i can do it?

Any way, keep up the great work!!! You really an inspiration to the modding community as said before and taken modding to a whole new level. :)

Thanks

I’m in Mexico and will like to put a little mods store.
I live close to the border to Texas and I can go to the States and buy the 360 over there. just to let you know the basic xbox 360 no hard drive, wired control will cost you around 400 dlls

Nice site, nice mods, good guides. I saw this topic (http://forums.prophecy.co.za/f68/logitech-g15-modding-led-changes-44746/) and saw your pictures with your site in the left corner.
Nice what you did with that G15. I want to do that myself once, but then with RGB LEDs. Also your project Epiphany is very inspiring. I love those 3,5 mm jacks for power.
And I also love those leds inside the DVD player. GREAT!
